United States: San Francisco's hybrid taxis prove their worth

Today, 14% of San Francisco’s 1438 taxis are hybrids. Fifteen percent of New York’s 13237 cabs are, according to a spokesman for the city’s Taxi and Limousine Commission, which just passed a hybrid incentive plan.

This is question I get 90% of the time I take a taxi in NYC because I look Indian & most cabbies are some sort of South-Asian as well. So I tell him that I’m from Bangaladesh, he goes, “Me too!” He asks, where are your parents from? Then, later on in the day, I decided that I need new shades since it was particularly sunny. So I head over to St. Mark’s Place, the BEST place in New York City for sunglasses, to buy myself some fake Ray-ban Wayfarers.
